New National View for Successful Online Building Resource

An ward-winning affordable online project management system filling a long-overdue niche in the building industry.

Queensland (I-Newswire) February 22, 2012 - A TOWNSVILLE business that was created when the daughter of a multi award-winning builder decided to act on the industry’s frustrating lack of an affordable online project administration tool has gone national.

Built out of necessity, Tanya Stainton’s Building Industry Online is an award-winning resource that provides an easy-to-navigate online environment for those in the construction industry looking to promote their services, tender for projects, source work, find resources, and centrally store paperwork; drastically reducing office administration time.

Used by prominent builders and with thousands of members and users throughout Queensland, Ms Stainton said taking the business into the national arena meant more benefits for the website’s many consumers; from builders and developers to consultants, tradies, and suppliers.

“Having predominantly been Queensland-centric in our operations, the decision to go national was borne from the continued increase of system users here in Queensland,” Ms Stainton said, who will soon look at employing additional staff beyond the existing five to handle the escalating workload. “Plus our larger commercial companies that run operations across multiple states were pushing for a national solution.

“Having commenced operations in 2008, we now boast in excess of 11,700 users and that number is rising consistently every year. It’s certainly an exciting time for us and, I think it's fair to say as a local company, we are extremely proud of what we have created and achieved.”

One of BIO’s main strengths, especially with the national expansion, is that it allows companies to become aware and take advantage of opportunities in other regions that they otherwise would not have heard about.

“In the past few years people have been a lot more willing to travel,” Ms Stainton said. “They are using the system to, not only find available work, but also connect with skilled trades and suppliers located in other regions.

“The system facilitates connections to developers and builders as well as their project information at the exact time they are looking for the products and services our members have to offer.”

While BIO operates in an online environment, members have access to 24-hour support and the business regularly conducts sessions to maximise users’ understanding of the resource’s capabilities and network with others in the industry.
