LongTale Publishing introduces the literacy foundation READ3Zero, designed to support the nourishment of creative endeavors in children. READ3Zero is presently taking story submissions and will publish short-stories written by kids, for kids in 2010.

Founded in 2009 by author and CEO of LongTale Publishing, Melissa M. Williams (Iggy the Iguana), in partnership with author, Internet radio talk show host and book marketing consultant, Bobby Ozuna (Proud Souls), READ3Zero encourages community involvement in the fight against childhood illiteracy. With a tagline that reads “Conquering illiteracy together…30 minutes at a time” READ3Zero will offer entire communities a chance to make an outward stance in support of efforts to help encourage children to read daily.

READ3Zero will offer educators, business leaders and parents a means to channel creative ventures in kids, whether in artistic form or literary pursuits, and see those efforts published in a yearly anthology entitled, “I Write: Short-Stories, By Kids, For Kids.” LongTale Publishing will release this title in the fall of 2010. Short-story submissions are being accepted through February 1st, 2010. Finalists will be announced in May of 2010 and winners will be announced in late summer 2010. There is no fee for short-story submissions. Presently, this contest is open to all children in the US in grades third through eighth.
