New iPhone Application for Kids: Nikita the Whale Released by Developer, Aqility Group

Developed by Aqility, Nikita the Whale is an innovative new READ and PlayTM iPhone app that combines a children’s book with an interactive game.

(I-Newswire) September 21, 2010 - Aqility Group announced the release of its second iPhone application for kids, called Nikita the Whale. The app tells the story of Nikita, a young whale who teams up with some unlikely friends to search the briny deep for his missing food. Designed specifically for children ages 3-7, the app is an interactive learning and playing tool, and combines reading and story-based gaming in an innovative proprietary format, called READ and PlayTM. The READ and PlayTM format keeps kids engaged longer and more deeply than either standalone children’s reading apps or ordinary games. Nikita the Whale is available for purchase in the iTunes Store for $0.99.

With the ability for children to either hear the story read aloud by the narrator or to read the text themselves, all pages of Nikita the Whale are richly illustrated with bright colors that appeal to target age groups. Aqility President Alexander Kesler comments that “The brilliant colors and upbeat music set a friendly mood for young users.” Regarding the moral of the story, Mr. Kesler continues, “Nikita the Whale instills the values of teamwork and friendship while helping children learn to enjoy reading.”

The game section of the app ties into the story – after reading about Nikita's adventure in the ocean, children search for his missing food on the sea floor. Tapping objects on the screen reveals what’s behind them and children must select only the food that is edible for Blue Whales. The goal of the game is to locate the missing food as quickly as possible, and children are met with encouraging music and rounds of applause when the edible food is found.

Mr. Kesler continues “As a father, I wanted to create an application that was both engaging and learning-based. Nikita the Whale gets kids excited about reading without even knowing it. The goal of the READ and PlayTM system is to provide children with a fun and exciting story and allow them to continue the adventure by playing the game.”
