New homes in Wichelstowe are already proving popular with house buyers who need to commute to Bath, Bristol, Reading and London, all of which are within easy reach, as well as those working in central Swindon.
London (I-Newswire) December 7, 2011 - With Swindon's thriving economy and superb location midway between Bristol and Reading, both just 40 miles away, the town has seen a great deal of expansion over recent years - and now a new development area called Wichelstowe is offering house hunters fresh opportunities to buy a brand new home there.
Located to the north of the M4 between Junction 16 and Croft Road, this comprehensively planned, sustainable urban extension for Swindon will eventually provide up to 4,500 new homes, as well as employment spaces, three primary schools, a country park, local shops, and community facilities for residents. New homes in Wichelstowe are already proving popular with house buyers who need to commute to Bath, Bristol, Reading and London, all of which are within easy reach, as well as those working in central Swindon.
The development will eventually offer a semi-rural environment with almost 50% of the site remaining "green", with more than 130,000 trees set to be planted across the site, along with playing fields and parks.
New homes are being constructed there by a range of different housebuilders in various styles and sizes, so there will be options to suit a variety of different types of house buyers. The entire Wichelstowe area is expected to be completed by around 2020, although the first homes in the East Wichel part of the site were occupied in April 2009, and there is a good choice of new homes currently for sale there.
Barratt Homes, for example, has created a development of three- and four-bedroom family homes at East Wichel priced from £172,995 to £239,995, and is encouraging first-time buyers to reserve now to avoid the stamp duty increase on 24th March 2012. The Government's FirstBuy scheme is also available on a limited selection of plots at this development. This is an affordable housing scheme that allows first-time buyers in England to get a place of their own with a deposit of as little as four per cent. The current 'Home of the Week' is Plot 10, an 'Ashworth' three-bedroom detached house with Part Exchange available for those who have an existing house to sell; plus carpets, turf and light fittings all included in the price of £172,995.
Another area has been developed by David Wilson Homes, offering a selection of unique two-, three- and four-bedroom homes from £164,950 to £264,950, each featuring an individual finish that has been designed to complement the local surroundings. FirstBuy is also available at some plots here, and David Wilson's special deposit calculator can help you work out what you could afford.
An area developed by Bloor Homes incorporates a range of sustainable one- and two-bedroom apartments and three- and four-bedroom homes priced from £161,955 to £179,950, and another area of houses from Taylor Wimpey offers new one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes ranging from £148,000 to £315,000, with some plots available through FirstBuy and others through Part Exchange and other purchase assistance schemes.
New phases of developments of new homes in Wiltshire will be released at East Wichel and other parts of Wichelstowe in the near future, so watch this space for updates.
