Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C. Awards Scholarships to Four New Haven High School Seniors
Four New Haven Students Each Receive a $2,500. Scholarship at Awards Ceremony
Online, June 12, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C. celebrated the inaugural presentation of its college scholarship awards on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Over fifty people attended the awards ceremony at the Quinnipiack Club, 221 Church Street in New Haven, CT. Celebrating with the awardees, their families, and their teachers were representatives from Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C., LEAP staff and board members, members of the local business community.
Greg Pepe, founding partner of Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C. and Henry Fernandez, Interim Executive Director of LEAP, presented scholarships to Hill Regional Career High School's Dejuan F. Emery, Jr., and High School in the Community's Tatiana L. Stroud, Tawaka E. Henderson, and Kayla D. McNeill. Mr. Emery and Ms. Stroud plan to attend Gateway Community College, Ms. Henderson plans to attend the University of Bridgeport, and Ms. McNeill plans to attend Albertus Magnus College.
The Neubert, Pepe & Monteith Scholarship is awarded to New Haven high school seniors affiliated with LEAP (Leadership, Education and Athletics in Partnership), an organization focused on encouraging and developing the strengths and talents of New Haven youth. The scholarship provides up to four LEAP students with an award of $2,500 or more. The scholars selected demonstrated a strong work ethic, a solid record of community service, commitment to their education, exemplary school attendance, and a long and constructive relationship with LEAP.
Mr. Pepe said that the event served as a celebration of the scholars and an opportunity to acknowledge those who had made the scholarship possible, noting that award recipients aren't often in a position to give thanks directly to their benefactors. Mr. Pepe and Mr. Fernandez then challenged the scholars to let this success inspire them to give back to their communities and be mentors to younger students.
