NASAology.com Website Goes Live: Cartoons Highlight NASA’s Politics, Management Inefficiencies!

A new website that uses cartoons to depict what goes on “inside NASA” has today been launched at NASAology.com.

NASA (I-Newswire) June 12, 2011 - “It doesn’t focus on cartoons ‘about’ space, but rather the politics, inefficiencies, and poor leadership within NASA,” said NASAology.com’s Communications Director, Barry Smith who made the announcement at the site’s debut.

The site, http://nasaology.com/, carries articles and cartoons that bring awareness to the mismanagement and inefficiencies often attributed to large government agencies. “NASA will soon become a dinosaur in the space race, if it doesn’t change,” said Smith.

According to Smith, the cartoons will primarily target persons working in the space program, not just those at NASA, but also those in the various up-and-coming private companies building space vehicles, namely SpaceX, Scaled Composites, Armadillo Aerospace, Virgin Galactic, XCOR Aerospace, Sierra Nevada Space Systems, RSC Energia, Excalibur Almaz, Blue Origin, Ad Astra Rocket Co., Interorbital Systems, Arca, The Dreamspace Group, and Space Adventures.

Unfortunately, members of the general public looking for the latest picture of Saturn won’t necessarily be interested in this site’s offerings. However, Smith believes the general public’s interest in following the development of cheap access to space will attract many to the site.

One of the things making NASAology.com different is the “unique” insider perspective it offers visitors. “The cartoons will not only make you laugh, but sometimes make you feel disgust at what’s really going on inside NASA,” noted Smith.

The Space Shuttle Program is coming to the end of the line and will soon become an object of curiosity in a museum somewhere, while several privately run companies are working hard to make space travel a commercially viable option.

With no vehicle to replace the Shuttle, NASA will soon be relying on Russia’s Soyuz vehicle to carry astronauts and supplies to the International Space Station.

“This is unacceptable. Politicians, NASA managers and NASA engineers should be embarrassed that we have to rely on Russian launch vehicles, just because NASA can’t get its act together,” Smith said.
NASAology.com publishes funny cartoons about NASA and space, from an “inside” perspective. New cartoons are added weekly. “There’s no doubt in my mind, NASAology.com will make you think, laugh, and hopefully join the discussion,” concluded Smith.
