Nand Kishor Sharma has a unique distinction in the 2013-15 batch at FORE School of Management, New Delhi. He has five years of work experience - the maximum amongst his intake mates.

"It's 59 months actually," points out Nand Kishore with a smile. "That makes it four years and 11 months, which looks less than five years. As it is, all my batch-mates address me as Aap, instead of Tu or Tum - which is how they address each other. It does make me feel older, and therefore I like downplaying the five years to just-above-four-years."

Nevertheless, Nand Kishor's advent to the select class of FORE School of Management, New Delhi students is stuff that Bollywood movies are made of. It starts in a small town, far in the rural area of Eastern India. Nand Kishor went to a small local school in West Bengal. In the later years, he moved to Jaipur; completing his intermediate level. He thereafter completed his B.Sc. from Rajasthan University. Like many youths of his age, he thereafter took up a job with one of the numerous small IT firms in Jaipur, Igneous E-solutions. He quickly left and joined another small firm, Banana Outsourcing Pvt. Ltd, in Jaipur itself. To the outside world, Nand Kishor was just another average, midtown bloke trying to earn a living. Deep inside him, though, there was immense churning going on. Nand Kishor was determined to break into the big league, and he knew there was just one thing that was stopping him - English.

"You see, my entire education until then had been in the Hindi medium. I did not have the luxury of studying any further due to financial constraints. There was only one way out of the situation - in December 2009, I moved to Delhi and joined Convergys as an associate. I realised that entry into a BPO would open the gates to better language and communication skills, and give me a broad idea about the corporate culture. I think there was a fierce thirst for knowledge in me, so when I started working, I began performing… and in the process, began enjoying it immensely," he said.

His application paid him rich dividends, and very soon, Nand Kishor grew from an Associate to Unit Manager at Convergys. It was just the beginning. By December 2012 - three years at Convergys - Nand Kishor was a Team Leader, handling a team of 21 people that managed the process of CITIBANK (USA).

His job involved coaching and feedback, preparing hourly, daily, and monthly reports, initiating team projects and ensuring that the team met all the Tier 1 matrices. Nand Kishor bagged the 'Award for Convergys Excellence' for two consecutive years and, at the same time, was awarded the 'Best Sales and Compliance agent" from CITIBANK for two consecutive years. He was already an idol for many children back in the dusty streets of Maldah, in rural West Bengal, and his unassuming school in Jaipur.

It had been an amazing rise…. but Nand Kishor wasn't interested in resting on his laurels. "I wanted to pursue MBA ever since I got my Bachelor degree, but again, could not do so due to financial constraints. I had received everything at the organisations I had served - rewards and recognition, monetary and non- monetary recognition. It was a very difficult choice leaving all this especially because I was enjoying it so much, and as a recognised performer, was getting all kinds of attention. Yet, this is what I wanted to do in the first place. But once I began preparing for MBA, there was no looking back, he said.

It all came together perfectly for him when he cracked what is widely-recognised as the number one business school in NCR - FORE School of Management, New Delhi. He went to the classrooms of FORE School of Management with the same thirst for learning that had driven him to great successes. He soon realised that although he did learn many things at his work places, FORE School of Management provided him with much-needed understanding and comprehension.

"The curriculum at FORE School of Management has allowed me time to cross-check and verify my work experience and understand the basics behind corporate functioning. I like the course structure, much because of the international perspective involved, and the faculty. The way they correlate everything with global, and live, scenarios and case studies is staggering. It is a launch pad for us to understand global perspective of management."

In his first six months at FORE School of Management, New Delhi Nand Kishor has participated in almost every event - starting from the Annual College Fest that began on the very day he set foot on the FORE campus, to helping organising the Blood Donation Camp recently. Nand Kishor is currently in the thick of things, organising Genesis-2014. When you ask him what has been the most memorable part of FORE School of Management, he temporarily looks undecided, before quipping with a smile…. "Everything."
