Musical Theatre Academy of Orange County Announces Spring 2011 Productions

The Musical Theatre Academy of Orange County announces that its upcoming Spring production schedule will include “Aladdin, Jr.”, "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Anything Goes.”

Newport Beach, CA (I-Newswire) May 11, 2011 - The premier musical theatre program for Orange County youth for more than 25 years, the Musical Theatre Academy of Orange County (MTA) announces that its upcoming spring production schedule will include “Aladdin, Jr.”, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Anything Goes.” MTA has also announced its schedule for its summer Broadway-intensive style camps, workshops and classes.

MTA is a little-known gem of Orange County, providing training to students ages 4 through 18 in an audition-free, non-competitive environment that allows each student a chance to shine in the spotlight. The spring productions will include:


•“Aladdin, Jr.” at the Village Arts Theatre in Orange, May 26 & 27, 7:30 p.m. (performers ages 7 to 10)

•“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” at the Rose Center Theatre in Westminster; June 10, 7:30 p.m.; June 11, 2 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.; June 12, 2 p.m. (performers ages 9 to 12)

•“Anything Goes” at the Rose Center Theatre in Westminster; June 17-18, 7:30 p.m.; June 19, 2 p.m.; June 24-25, 7:30 p.m.; June 26, 2 p.m. (performers ages 12 to 18)

MTA has provided quality training to more than 2,000 students since its inception in 1984. The Newport Beach-based organization has since expanded to a full-scale musical theatre academy that holds professional-quality productions three times a year. The not-for-profit prides itself on teaching students the fundamentals of musical theatre as well as the tenets of self-confidence, responsibility and teamwork.

The team at MTA strives to both provide low-cost performance arts training and teach students valuable life lessons. The organization’s professional staff works with students to build on their musicality, dancing and acting skills as well character—pushing children to challenge their fears, develop their talent, work as a team and celebrate their achievements.

Summer Sessions for Aspiring Thespians

MTA also has a fun-filled summer planned, with Summer on Broadway workshops and a variety of acting sessions lasting from two hours to two weeks packed with learning and fun. Summer on Broadway is a series of fast-paced, intensive workshops for aspiring thespians ages 7 to 19. Students learn choreography and vocals for a Broadway-style revue that ends with two live performances at The Village Theater in Orange, on July 29 and 30 and August 18 and August 19. Summer Master Classes are scheduled for Monday nights from July 18 to August 15, offering intensive instruction on a different musical theatre discipline each week.
