In the knowledge society that we now have, it is the dream of every school to have leadership that is capable of nurturing students for a global world.

In the knowledge society that we now have, it is the dream of every school to have leadership that is capable of nurturing students for a global world. Having Ms. Vipula Saxena as the Principal has made Meenakshi Public School one of the few schools in Gurgaon with a truly global vision. In fact, way back in March 1981, after her M.Sc-M.Ed, Ms. Saxena started her career as a Biology teacher (Senior), under the Education Department of Thimpu, Bhutan, growing to become a subject paper evaluator for the National Board of Education Bhutan. Over the years, Ms. Vipula Saxena has held prominent responsibilities not just in the biggest schools in India - like Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School (Mussoorie) and G.D. Birla Memorial School (Ranikhet) - but also in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), conducting Teachers' Training Workshops. Widely regarded as an authority in Assessment and Evaluation, Ms. Saxena has been an Evaluator, Teachers' Trainee, visiting numerous government schools.

"I count myself as fortunate to have received a very wide international exposure over the years. It has helped me immensely in bringing in a lot of dynamic educational practices within Meenakshi Public School. Thanks to the co-operation of the management and the unstinted support of board members, my aspiration to create and be a part of a global educational brand is on the path of realisation."

As the Principal of Meenakshi Public School, Ms. Vipula Saxena sees the inclusion of Sports, Yoga, Karate, Art & Craft, Dance forms, Music and other co-curricular activities within the routine of Meenakshi Public School as essential for the overall development of its students.

"In all that we do, we ensure the very best for each of the students that pass through our school. Brain development through competitive books available in the library, sports activity for physical fitness, spiritual development through value education, life skills and counseling, and confidence through public speaking, are the five pillars on which our pedagogy rests. Education at Meenakshi Public School is not reactionary, but pro-active and insightful towards children. There are regular sessions to sensitise teachers with regard to analysing their subjects and simplifying them, so as to address every student in the classroom. Teachers are encouraged to 'quit the jargon' and get into the students' shoes. Over a period of time, this has ensured that our teachers accord each child the respect due to an individual; allowing them freedom of thought, creativity and expression, as against rote learning. We recognise that a child spends the major part of the day at home, and therefore lay great emphasis on counselling and guiding parents to become effective role models. Students are exposed to a number of disciplines not just to choose their calling in life, but also to instill a culture of excellence in whatever they do."

Understandably, Ms. Vipula Saxena is acknowledged by most of her staff as a "quick learner herself, with high energy, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude and drive". Over the years, she has acquired a reputation at Meenakshi Public School of being an able coordinator, with organisational capacity par excellence. She is described as a "good team player and motivator at the same time".

"Meenakshi Public School stands out in Gurgaon for being a 'value for money' school. Thanks to a long-term vision since its inception in 1992, Meenakshi Public School has, within a nominal fee structure, been able to pack in facilities and avenues for growth that outdo many high-end schools. These include Karate - Do (I-V), GESE & ISE - from Trinity College London, a state-of-the-art swimming pool, Gym/ Lawn Tennis facility, Modern language lab and upgraded computer lab, and an e-Assessment lab. Apart from regular counseling sessions and MCIL classes to improve conversational skills, our commitment to 'educate without discriminating against the parents' educational qualification and background' has held us in great stead."

Ms. Vipula Saxena believes that the education system at Meenakshi Public School is excellent, as equal weightage is given to scholastic and co- scholastic activities. However, she is moving ahead on the 'value education' front, and promises that the 2013-14 academic session will open to a "series of wonderful surprises" for parents and students of Meenakshi Public School.
