First Annual NCDBA Event in Pinehurst to Feature Governor, Secretary of Commerce, Fort Bragg Commander

(Morrisville, N.C.) (I-Newswire) April 7, 2011 - Collaborative product design and development firm Montie Design has announced its participation in the First Annual Symposium and Expo April 19-20 sponsored by the North Carolina Defense Business Association (NCDBA). The state’s inaugural tradeshow of its kind is expected to draw thousands of innovators and defense industry vendors to the world-famous Pinehurst Resort, along with numerous high-profile, influential speakers such as North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue, Secretary of Commerce Keith Crisco, and Lt. General Frank Helmick, the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg commander.

Montie Design will be exhibiting at the event and is sponsoring one of the door prizes for attendees.

"Providing engineering and prototyping services to contractors in the defense industry is a very important part of our long-term strategy," Montie Roland, company president, said.

"The NCDBA organization is providing an increasing service by connecting vendors with the military and other vendors, which is increasingly important as the needs of the military in North Carolina continue to grow. Participation in the NCDBA events helps us grow our foot print in the military space," he added.

Based in Fayetteville, the NCDBA represents businesses with interests in military contracting and supporting North Carolina’s military installations.

Roland, who recently joined other NCDBA members for a VIP tour of the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, has been actively promoting the organization throughout the Triangle in part to tap into the innovation excellence of local firms who could have services to offer military contractors.

"There’s a whole swath of local, small businesses in Fayetteville, on up through Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs, and on into Morrisville with fantastic product design and manufacturing experience that would be of great benefit to the defense industry," he said.

The Montie Gear line by Montie Design showcases the firm’s institutional knowledge of shooting and outdoor needs with products like the AR-Rest and the X-Rest. These products are designed to exceed expected performance levels in a military or civilian environment.

Montie Design has also developed an RFID troubleshooting tool called the RFID Detector, which has been sold to clients such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Small enough to fit into a shirt pocket or clip to an ID badge, the RFID detector enables users and installers to detect whether an RFID reader is actually sending out a signal. RFID tags are growing in popularity as replacements for barcode tags due to their ability to be read at a distance without contact. Every RFID tag attached to a product contains an integrated circuit and antenna, and is dependent upon the functionality of a corresponding RFID reader to effectively read and record the information encoded on the tag.
