West Hollywood (I-Newswire) October 23, 2011 - If you're serious about becoming a top model, ( like Lisa Stelly who Model Promoter recently reported is engaged and expecting!) you'll need to keep an eye on your hair, poise, walk... but your skin is arguably the most important of all. Compromise your face and you can kiss the possibility of beauty jobs goodbye. Which is why the people at ModelPromoter.com compiled a short and simple list of skincare rules to help you achieve your modeling best:

1. Chill out. Obviously we all know stress can cause skin to act up, but did you know it enflames your epidermis by a whopping 16.4 percent? When you're in high-pressure situations (what model isn't?) try mentally calming yourself down. Keeping your mind in check can do the same for your skin.

2. Stay rinsed. Don't let sweat build up on your skin; the more sweat and oil that hangs out on there, the more breakouts you're bound to have. After any sort of activity that might have made you perspire, take a cool shower and wash using an oil-clearing glycolic- or salicylic acid-based product.

3. Avoid bed sheet build-up. Think what you put on your body stays on your body? Think again. It all transfers from your face, hair and body onto your sheets at night. And then, when you lie down in it, it only fuels more build-up and breakouts. Wash your sheets weekly or at least change your pillow case, so you don't spend sleepy time clogging your pores.

4. Wear. Sunscreen. It's not just good advice for turn-of-the-century high school graduates, but also for top models. If you want to keep your face looking young and fresh, rule number one is to avoid aging. And, as we all know, sun overexposure is the fastest way to add years to your appearance. Keep rays at bay by applying a daily UV protectant.

5. Slash smokes. Not only is it supremely un-sexy, but smoking is also one of the worst things you can do to your body, both inside and out. If lung damage isn't enough of a reason to say no to cigs, knowing that it can also make your skin look yellow and leathery ought to do it.

6. Buy basic. Not only are most of the expensive cleansers no better than the drugstore kind, but some of the fancy ingredients in some of those top shelf soaps can actually be irritating to your skin (peppermint and eucalyptus, for starters). Women's Health recommends "inexpensive face washes and see-through glycerin soaps" as alternatives. They'll get rid of what you don't want on there, without taking the essential oils your face needs along with it.
