Minneapolis upstart challenges the Hollywood status quo

Expanding her offices from Minneapolis to Beverly Hills, Stephanie Allensworth, CEO of ALLENSWORTH ENTERTAINMENT is aggressively signing talent from coast to coast

(I-Newswire) October 19, 2009 - “The brick and mortar structures of Hollywood still house most of the lawyers, talent agents and studios, but nowadays movies can be made from anywhere. And they are. Talent is everywhere - so why not set up shop anywhere?” With today’s technology, my business can run very effectively from two offices – here in Minneapolis serving the Midwest markets and in L.A. serving the Western markets”

Allensworth’s first major out of state client is actor and independent filmmaker, Nat Christian, who is based in L.A., but will shoot his next feature, “MONDAY”, partially in Minneapolis. Christian recently starred in the independent feature, “CHANNELS,” along with Kim Oja, Ed Asner, John Kassir, Taylor Negron and Joan Van Ark. He also wrote and directed the feature. Just prior to CHANNELS, Christian directed “FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE”, starring Florence Henderson. Both features, made for under $200,000.00 each, were festival entries and were immediately picked up for distribution by Vanguard Cinema.

Christian concurs – “Because of technology, the lines between acting, writing, directing and producing are overlapping more and more. Great talent from small towns across the country, and the world, can create their own vehicles and it’s no longer an exclusive Hollywood club that is doing so. When I met Stephanie, it was immediately apparent that she has the smarts and the drive comparable to the best agents in Hollywood, and it really doesn’t make a difference to me where she operates out of. Besides, her associate, Mark Mazzetti, who has a history of great success and creativity with talent, is in the Beverly Hills office.”

Allensworth’s Beverly Hills office is headed by former music executive, Mark Mazzetti, who had previously held executive positions at A&M Records, A&M/Polygram, Artwork Music Group/ABBA Music Publishing and R&M Artist Records. Mazzetti also worked as a consultant to Universal Music Enterprises, Gateway Mastering, Rondor Music Publishing and Mattel Toys. He has guided superstars such as John Mayer, National Product, Sting, Janet Jackson, Amy Grant, Aaron Neville, Bryan Adams, Sarah Brightman and others to hit songs and multi-platinum sales.
