Mining leaders will discuss safety approaches and procedures at the 2nd Latam Health, Safety and Rescue Operations in Mining to be held on 12 – 13 June 2013 in Rio De Janeiro – Brazil.

This case-study will outline the risk management framework in Rio Tinto elaborating on the three level risk analysis approach using the correct tool to measure the risk level.
Mining leaders believe that that “Zero harm” is not just about making safety a core value, it is about eliminating physical injuries and illnesses, taking control of your health & safety, and consistently choosing more safe behaviours. Over the period best practices and theories have been applied to produce significant improvement to ensure safe workplace.
The great challenge of the twenty-first century mining pertaining to safety and security is complete control and eradication of fatal accidents. Douglas Sequeira Morgado, Health and Safety Superintendent at Anglo American, Los Bronces (Chile) will elaborate on procedures and preventive measures that should be adopted by mining companies to function with complete safety and prevent all possible risks.
This annual event will focus on adoption strategies towards a safer culture and discuss investing in occupational health and safety. Some of the key discussion points would be the role of HR towards implementing safety policies, the modern miner’s perspective, impact of risk management strategy on humans, building an emergency response management system.
