Preparations are on for ‘Milestone 35’ at Milestone 35, Katol Road; the address of one of the major landmarks of Nagpur - Institute of Management Technology (IMT). With the annual flagship festival of IMT Nagpur just a few days away, the entire campus is a hive of activity, with the action sometimes spilling into the city and suburbs of Nagpur. The people of Nagpur too, are gearing up in their own way for the flood of young graduates that descend upon the city from across the country to take part in the face-off for honours in the various competitions at the mega event. The event is good for local business, with the youngsters simply taking over the food and party joints in the city.

Slated to be held between the 25th and 28th of October 2012, Milestone 35 will have a mix of professional competitions (Colloqium), and talent hunts (Fiesta). But this time around, the event includes a corporate conclave where students will have the opportunity to hear some real tales of corporate transformation, from those who have changed the way companies do business. The ultimate challenge in this extravaganza will undoubtedly be ‘The Business Plan’, where students from B-schools across the country will be pitting their business models against one another on the topic of ‘A Food Service for Indian Railways’.

With corruption leaving no part of the social, corporate and government fabric untarnished, the theme for this year’s Milestone 35 has been thoughtfully coined ‘Ethikos’ (Ethics). Most of the competitive events have been carefully molded to suit this theme. The Vyaktitva club of IMT Nagpur simply chose the words of Noel Coward, ‘The higher the building, the lower the morals’, to create the debating event Niyant, which will see the best speakers of the top B-schools debate Corporate Corruption.

Events like ‘Vantage Point’ (Operations), ‘Marque Ethics’ (Marketing), ‘Code Zero’ (Finance), ‘Arthashastri’ (Economics) and ‘Charisma’ (HR) are all aimed at making the future managers come to their own conclusions about ethics in business and life.

On the fun side, it is advised that participants at IMT Nagpur’s Milestone 35 carry their dancing shoes along; not a day is likely to pass without the dancing shoes being put to the test! If you’ve got to dance along at ‘Razzmatazz’ (Group Dancing) on one day, you might be compelled to head-bang at the ‘Mosh Fest- Battle of the Bands’ on another. The inter-college fashion show, ‘Mirage,’ and street play event, ‘Nukkad’, are also bound to draw everyone into the good times. And for those who haven’t had a laugh for a long time, here’s the ultimate show-stopper of the event. A little bird tells us that the King of Gags - award-winning actor, Rajpal Yadav – is not just going to keep you in splits but will be judging the ROFL (Roll on the Floor in Laughter) challenge between future managers. All in all, there’s clearly something for everyone, with the ‘short film fest’ and ‘Eureka’ (photography) competitions bringing out the hidden creative geniuses from the B-schools of the country. And all you gaming dons… the ‘cyberstorm’ is going to get you! Be ready to fight it out in the LAN-gaming zone. Be there or be square!

To wind it all up, the final evening will be dedicated entirely to the Disc Jockey! So all you youngsters gearing up for the greatest Milestone 35 ever, don’t harm your dancing shoes before the ‘Sonic Riot’ – the best of house music and funky hip hop from across the globe.
