Michael Ciftci Thanks Supporters From the "Bottom of his Heart"

Tampa (I-Newswire) October 27, 2011 - Tampa, FL - Tampa, Florida - Michael Ciftci had this to say about the outcome of the first round of voting for Tampa City Council:

"On Tuesday's Election, more than 3500 people voted for our positive vision for Tampa. While it wasn't enough, it was a solid showing and everyone involved should be proud. I thank all of the voters that supported us, and all of the voters that participated in the process, and all of the candidates that offered their service.

Running for Tampa City Council was one of the greatest experiences of my life. In three quick months, I learned much about our community, much about myself, met amazing folks, and saw that politics in its greatest form is about helping people; there's no greater platform from which to do so. Looking back, I'm very happy that I ran and realize how blessed I am to have been able to do so. I was born an American, and participated in a process that folks around the world at this very moment in places like Egypt and Libya and Tunisia and Iraq and Yemen and China are fighting and dying to have the right to emulate.

A special thank you to the community leaders who endorsed my candidacy. A special thank you to the donors who contributed with their hard earned money. A special thank you to my family and friends who waved signs and licked envelopes and cheered me on, the emotional support that was integral. Especially that of Ms. Ina Sofroni.

And a very special thank you to my campaign manager, Mr. Chris Siercks, a dear friend for whom I would do anything, who did so much for me. Any candidate is lucky to have Chris on their team.
Upon their swearing into office, I urge the new City Council and the new Mayor to pursue renewable energy and sustainable manufacturing, ensure that East Tampa is included in the 2012 GOP convention, and work to bring CUSTOMER SERVICE back to City Hall by making constituent services a priority.

Personally, I am considering founding a non-governmental organization that works on behalf of constituents to help them navigate and find local government services and focus the attention of elected officials onto constituents who need help. I will also be continuing my work in Haiti and will try to rally the Florida business community around a sustained development effort that includes Florida tradesmen.

Again, thank you to the people of Tampa for hearing the case for my candidacy, and thank you so much to our supporters."
