Miami Fashion Week – MIFW – the biggest international fashion event held in USA will feature Michelle Salins, the Indian fashion designer from Bangalore. Michelle Salins has been selected to represent India at the Miami International Fashion Week

(I-Newswire) March 18, 2010 - Miami International Fashion Week – MIFW – has selected Michelle Salins, the Indian fashion designer from Bangalore to represent India, at its annual fashion event of 2010. This year, the MIFW is scheduled to take place from March 18 to 21. Michelle Salins will present her collection on March 20.

Michelle will be presenting her collection named “The Jewel Tones of India” at this event. According to Michelle Salins “The collection will portray the harmony between the rich Indian culture and heritage and that of the west.” Michelle’s collection includes cocktail dresses and gowns. There is also a bridal gown that the designer says will be real show stopper.

“90 percent of the outfits are made of silk either mixed with velvet, tulle, satin, georgette or chiffon,” says Michelle. The line also comprises headgear designed by Michelle. “They are in similar colours and comprise mostly of rosettes.”

She will be also presenting a collection of cocktail footwear in silk and satin, designed by her. The trademark butterfly motifs of Michelle Salins will make its presence felt in her entire range.

“I love bling, so obviously my designs contain this element. The embellishments I have incorporated include Swarovski and Czech crystals, sequins and beads. The colours I have experimented with are fuchsia, deep purple, ferozi blue and of course gold and silver,” Michelle divulges.

Of the kind of silhouettes she’s used, Michelle Salins explains: “Fitted silhouettes are what my outfits are about. Today’s international market is extremely conscious about how they look and I believe that every woman is sensual in her own way. Hence, I have used cuts that bring out this aspect of woman.”

Given that she’s been in the fashion industry official for only three years now, being selected to represent India at the Miami International Fashion Week (MIFW) is no trifling achievement for this young and vivacious fashion designer from Bangalore.

“With big names in Indian fashion scene being my predecessors at MIFW, the pressure to live up to people’s expectations is great but that makes me want to give this my best,” Michelle says signing off.
