Meet 2014 DETC Famous Alumni of the Year Shivana Inalsingh

Through my studies [at ACHS] I have come away with a broad set of practical tools to help others.

From something as simple as teaching individuals how to read food labels and learning about drug, nutrient, and supplement interactions to developing corporate wellness programs," says Shivana Inalsingh, a Clinical Integrative Reflexologist and a Graduate of the Graduate Certificate in Nutrition program at the American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS). Inalsingh was honored as the 2014 Famous Alumni for ACHS at the Distance Education and Training Council's (DETC) 88th Annual Conference on April 8, 2014 in Hammock Beach, FL.

As a graduate of ACHS's Graduate Certificate in Nutrition program and current student in the Master of Science in Holistic Nutrition, Inalsingh is an accomplished holistic health professional. She currently researches and presents information on nutrition-supported recovery from brain trauma in boxers, and is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee of the World Boxing Association. She has also presented research on foot reflexology and craniosacral therapy in the treatment of head trauma and health issues affecting professional female athletes. Inalsingh was recognized for her extraordinary service working with first responders and trauma victims following the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.

"I found myself seeing more and more clients suffering from lifestyle diseases most related to poor nutritional choices," says Inalsingh. "My success in this program is a reflection of the quality of education that I've received from ACHS and the support and guidance of a highly effective team of educators and administrators."

ACHS Founder and President Dorene Petersen presented the Famous Alumni award at the DETC Conference's Annual Awards Luncheon. The DETC conducts the "Famous Alumni" program annually, and honorees are chosen for their academic record and the level and quality of their contribution to society and their chosen profession(s).
