McMillin Realty Float An Annual Tradition for Starlight Parade

Chula Vista, CA (I-Newswire) December 5, 2011 - For the 22nd straight year, McMillin Realty created a float for the Chula Vista Starlight Parade, an annual South Bay tradition that brings thousands of attendees together to celebrate the Holiday Season. McMillin Realty was proud to once again participate in the parade, driving a 60s themed “house” float along the route while McMillin agents, dressed in rolled up jeans, jackets and McMillin logo-clad hardhats, greeted parade watchers. This year’s parade theme was to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the City of Chula Vista.

“The float was created to honor our company’s founder, Corky McMillin,” said Isabel Hall, Vice President of McMillin Realty, “Corky founded the company in the 60s and so we wanted to honor his South Bay legacy by paying homage to that era.” The float featured a retro-style house with Christmas lights, peace signs, nostalgic green and yellow flowers, a Christmas tree with presents, and a dog, creating a warm family atmosphere. Strobe lights and 60s Christmas songs were also incorporated to help create the retro vibe.

“People enjoy the parade,” said Betty Stoike, a McMillin Realty agent, “It is an honor to be a part of the community and participate in such a fun and enjoyable event. It makes me and my colleagues proud to be McMillin Realty agents.”

The parade route stretched from H Street to E Street, and featured various floats, talented marching bands, exotic and sporty classic cars, various community groups and more. There was also face painting for children, photo ops with Santa Claus, and carolers dressed in turn of the century garb to help bring out the holiday spirit in everyone. Before the parade got rolling, Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox was featured in the Tree Lighting Ceremony, officially kicking off the holiday season in Chula Vista.
