Materialise, the leader in 3D Printing software, is excited to announce the launch of the 2014 Slot Car Championship. The contest is an opportunity to bring the car of your dreams to life with 3D printing and WIN the championship! 3D printing combines unparalleled design freedom with mind blowing aesthetic capabilities….what kind of car will you design?

The Slot Car Championship Contest is open to all 3D printing enthusiasts. Contestants from organizations or institutions will compete in several categories including fastest car, best design, most original use of 3D printing and more. It's easy to enter…simply complete the online form and pay the $55 entrance fee. This fee will cover the cost of the chassis that's required to use and may not be altered. After registering, the chassis will be shipped to you and you'll receive an email with the .STL file for designing your car. Bring your one-of-a-kind slot car to the championship race that Materialise will host on Tuesday, June 10th in Detroit as part of the RAPID Conference and Exhibition, one of the largest 3D printing shows organized by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).

All components of the car must be 3D printed other than the chassis. Have a great design idea but no means of 3D Printing? NO PROBLEM! Materialise offers an online service for 3D Printing through i.materialise.com. Choose from numerous printing technologies, materials and finishing options that will set your car apart! "The possibilities of 3D printing are endless and we want to showcase this in the Motor City (Detroit)," said Bryan Crutchfield, Managing Director of Materialise USA. "We hope to get some unique, one of a kind slot car designs in the shape of a shoe, house or even a classic muscle car."
