Master Chicago Stepper Calvin Taboo Jarrett Signs With NYC Talent Management Firm

Angela Crockett of Angela Crockett Enterprises, is pleased to announce the addition of Chicago’s king of steppin, Calvin Jarrett (aka Taboo) to her client list.

New York City (I-Newswire) January 27, 2013 - Calvin "Taboo" Jarrett a Chicago native started steppin' at the age of 14. He witnessed steppin' for the first time at a high school sock hop. After watching some of Chicago's legendary steppers skillfully glide across the floor, he became mesmerized and instantly knew he had found his calling.

Chicago steppin' is a name given to a style of ballroom type dance that has evolved over the years from various other dances. Orginating from Chicago's African American community the dance has morphed from its beginnings with the Jitterbug to a style mixed with flair, elegance and spellbinding moves. Once known as a secret society, Chicago steppin' has taken the country by storm and has made its mark as one of America's most popular art forms. R&B crooners have been highly successful, starting with R. Kelly's "Step in the Name of Love" and "Happy People" and Gerald LeVert's "Didn't We"...the nation has gotten a taste of the steppers style.

Calvin co-founded the M&C Productions Dance Company, the Steppers Unlimited Organization, the Saturday Steppin' Social and the Maryland cable TV show "Steppin With Style".

Calvin was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and has also won numerous other awards. He travels the United States celebrating the growing appeal of orginal steppin' and conducting "Man-on-Man" workshops. "Man-on-Man" steppin' is considered the highest level of this dance.

Additionally, Calvin was a part of the dream team (Greg Ross and James Williams) from Chicago, that brought R. Kelly and former NBA star Craig Hodges to play basketball with the Atlantic City Seagulls in 1997. R. Kelly is believed to be the first music artist to play professional basketball.
