Violins, cellos and trumpets to blow it’s all HAPPENING at the Zoo, The Instrument Petting Zoo presented by the North Texas Youth Orchestra

Plano, Texas (I-Newswire) February 10, 2011 - North Texas Youth Orchestra will sponsor an Instrument Petting Zoo, in support of musical arts in Collin County. Plans are underway for a North Texas Youth Orchestra member led display and hands on demonstration for curious youth, students and adults to see, hear and touch instruments that represent a full symphony orchestra. The project is expected to be completed by August 31, 2011, and the official debut at the Plano Balloon Festival in the fall.

The North Texas Youth Orchestra will hold its second concert of the 2010-2011 Concert Season Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2:30pm at the St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano. Tickets are $10 and proceeds from ticket sales will be used toward instruments needed for the Instrument Petting Zoo. We are currently in need of and accepting donations for all stringed, wind, brass and percussion instruments; new or used. To make an instrument donation or to purchase tickets visit our website.

Fewer and fewer schools offer total music educational experiences in their music program, this is due to budget cuts and limited funding allocated towards the arts. North Texas Youth Orchestra (NTYO) provides opportunities for young musicians to serve their community, enrich lives through the performance of music, elevate the awareness of the arts throughout North Texas and motivate young adults to excel as musicians and community members.

Our Instrument Petting Zoo is an example of things youth get involved allowing them to give back to their communities and helps support the arts and music. NTYO is a community service oriented; non-profit full orchestra serving young musicians between the ages of 14 to 18.
