Lint Center Announces 2012 Frank and Virginia Misselhorn Memorial Scholarship Winner

Lint Center for National Security Studies Awards Scholarship to International Security Studies Graduate Student and Department of Homeland Security Full-Time Intern, Joseph Kirshy

The Lint Center, a non-profit charity focused on supporting the educational pursuits of the next generation of America's Counterintelligence and National Security Workers, today formally announced Mr. Joseph Kirshy was awarded the 2012 Frank and Virginia Misselhorn Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship aims to support the undergraduate and graduate pursuits of scholars interested in National Security.

Lint Center scholarships include a monetary, material, and networking gift to its winners. The monetary gifts range from $500 to $1,500 and are to be used for investments in education and development. The other two gifts, winners consider invaluable. They are a year-long subscription to leading geo-political analysts and world-renowned forecasting organization, Stratfor and an official introduction to the Lint Center's vast mentor network with a matched one-on-one mentor from the National Security community in the scholarship winner's area or organization of interest.

The Lint Center for National Security Studies Scholarship Committee evaluates scholarship applicants by more than the sum of their scholarly achievements. Applicant-winners have a pointed and distinctive essay on a Counterintelligence or National Security topic, a personal essay presenting a multi-layered and compelling individual to the Scholarship Committee, soaring letters of recommendation, and a superb academic transcript. About Joseph Kirshy:
Joey Kirshy is currently pursuing his Master's degree in International Security Studies at the University of Arizona, after attending the American Military University's National Security Studies Master's program for one year. He graduated from the of Arizona in 2011 with a BA in Middle Eastern Studies, minoring in Arabic, Political Science, and Business Administration. Throughout Joey's undergraduate and graduate studies, he has been employed as a full-time Student Intern with the US Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection Office of the Border Patrol. He was assigned to a joint operations center focused on combating transnational threats, as well as Security Safeguarding Classified National Security Information and Security Anti-Terrorism Overview training. In tandem with his education and on-the-job experience, Joey's upbringing on Military bases around the world, with an experienced federal civil servant for a mother and a 20-year soldier for a father, plans on pursuing an Intelligence Officer position within a Counterintelligence Unit after graduation.
