Linksys Simplifies Wireless Network Setup and Security

SecureEasySetup enables consumers to effortlessly establish their wireless networks and activate Wi-Fi Protected Access™ (WPA) security by simply pushing one button on the router and one button on the wireless device they want to attach to the network.. Once the feature is activated, SES creates a secured, private connection between devices, automatically configures the network's Service Set Identifier (SSID), and enables WPA security features. Automatic configuration eliminates the manual passphrase, or key, entry required by traditional setup for the enabling of WPA. Customers are no longer required to have experience configuring a network to create a wireless network, they can now simply push buttons to go wireless.

Linksys is simplifying the process, making it much easier to create and extend a wireless network with security," said Malachy Moynihan, Linksys vice president of engineering and product marketing. Availability and Pricing
Linksys products with the SES feature built in are immediately available through Linksys resellers including e-commerce, retail, direct response, and VAR partners. There is no additional cost added to the price of the products and the firmware for older versions is available today for download for no additional charge.

In the coming weeks, Linksys will ship its Wireless-G Access Point (WAP54G) featuring SES. Additional products may follow from the company, along with SES-enabled offerings from other manufacturers including notebooks and wireless printers.
