LinkedIn, Twitter Cuts Off Partnership

The popular social networking sites Twitter and LinkedIn has called off their three year long partnership, after Twitter decided to enforce its developers rule.

The relationship between Twitter and LinkedIn, which kicked off in the year 2009, enabled the LinkedIn users to establish a connection with their Twitter accounts directly and automatically by publishing tweets and messages, that have updated in their LinkedIn account, and vice versa. But with the news of their relationship being terminated, this cord between the networks will no longer be available, although LinkedIn users will be enabled to update their LinkedIn connections and Twitter followers by pushing their updates to the Twitter account by using the 'Share' button, said Michael Sippey, the team product manager at Twitter, as the collaboration is not totally over.

Referring to a blog post posted on Friday by Sippey, expressing on the way of developing itself as an independent and core network, Twitter has been constantly developing itself through a set of reliable tools and products; Ryan Roslansky on behalf of LinkedIn mentioned in his own blog post that, on its attempts to evolve as an independent and powerful social networking platform, Twitter will no longer be on LinkedIn.

Although Sippey did not specifically mention the name of LinkedIn in his blog post, yet his statement that Twitter has begun to adapt its 'Developer Rules of the Road' with its partners firmly, was enough to indicate that, Twitter wishes its users to enjoy the platform in a steady manner for which the network is unveiling certain new tools that would make it essential for the company to rigorously implement its developer rules. The statement was also indicative of the fact that its LinkedIn users would no more be allowed to sync their LinkedIn and Twitter messages or conversely.

However, speaking about the new additions in Twitter's Interface, Sippey said that, Twitter is heading towards a platform where it wants its developers to create applications that will run within the Tweets. He also mentioned that in the coming future, the network mulls over to introduce some more severe guidelines revolving around the use of the Twitter API.
