Licensed Trades People Only

Due to an increase in the number of memberships, home emergency company HomeSource is looking for qualified tradespeople to service its members. HomeSource provides its service partners with automated compliance monitoring, assuring quality for members and making compliance easy for tradespeople.

HomeSource has a growing Service Partner database of pre-vetted tradespeople who provide service to their members. Applicants must send in their licence and insurance documents in order to qualify for a listing.

"The checks are very thorough," said HomeSource service partner Michael Pulis from Pulis Plumbing.

The tradesperson's compliance documents are centrally stored online (Mycontractor.com.au) and can be updated as required. Once joined the tradesperson receives a username and password to their account. Service partners can also opt in to email any updates to the HomeSource staff to make the changes on their behalf.

The MyContractor website automates compliance management, sending out alerts when a document is about to expire. This service is provided free for service partners.

"HomeSource believes in quality. We ensure all our service partners are fully qualified and remove any that are not. We are not aiming to create the biggest database of tradespeople, instead we aim for the best," said Pia Vogel, Joint Managing Director of HomeSource.

Licensing is in place to provide consumers with confidence that they are dealing with skilled tradespeople. A licence means that they have mastered a certain level of skill and knowledge. For plumbers and electricians it is mandatory to have a licence regardless of the cost of the work. Penalties for individuals carrying out work without a licence can be up to $22,000.

"But it's not just about being lawful; it's about the quality of service. Knowing a tradesperson is qualified to carry out the work gives confidence to consumers. And quality service results in repeat business for the tradesperson.

"We invite licensed and insured plumbers, locksmiths and electricians from all around Australia to join with others who appreciate compliance and are committed to staying up to date. There are no ongoing fees and no commissions to HomeSource."

HomeSource has members nation-wide and continues to grow. The program is flexible allowing service partners to nominate their area of coverage according to their needs.

"Attach yourself to the professionalism and integrity HomeSource represents. Furthermore, the free compliance automation service would ensure that you never get caught out and you avoid any unnecessary penalties," Ms Vogel said.
