Lets Get The Vampire Facelift Right

Unless you don't own a TV...Kim Kardashian had the Vampire Facelift on her show last weekend. This started a media frenzy across the globe, with a multitude of physicians, reporters and bloggers all chiming in on the procedure.

Beverly Hills, Ca. (I-Newswire) March 17, 2013 - Because of the attention-grabbing name of this cosmetic procedure, the Vampire Facelift has received global media attention from both Doctors and patients.

Kim Kardashian had the procedure on her show last week, which resulted in many blogs, articles, magazine stories, and commentaries on the technique and results.

Lets get some of the information straight:

The Vampire Facelift is a designer procedure that is trademarked by Dr. Charles Runels. It is a specific technique that is well thought out and specific in its delivery. Providers must be trained and certified to do the procedure..it is NOT also known as Selphyl. Selphyl is a PRP (Platelet rich plasma) that can be an option for the PRP portion of the treatment. There are several companies in the US that distribute PRP.

Currently, Selphyl is NOT being used as part of the training for the Vampire Facelift.

It should not be painful at all. Numbing creme is usually applied and there is no discomfort or downtime associated with the procedure.

It also should not be a bloody treatment. The blood on Kim's face is not the normal protocol, or how it looks when done correctly. Remember, its reality TV, and reality often at times goes for more drama.

The PRP should be golden in color when the red blood cells are removed for the PRP..hence, not any trace of RED blood on the face.

There are some PRP kits that do include red blood cells... however, it is generally indicated in Orthopedic use, and not aesthetic use.

Hopefully, this will clear up some of the inaccuracies of the Vampire Facelift and Vampire Facial that are being posted every day.
