Legendary Football Player Cafu To Visit Qatar

Doha, Qatar (I-Newswire) April 17, 2011 - A press statement from Dr. Naseer Homoud- Goodwill Ambassador and Director of Middle East office for the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM) apprised about upcoming visit of famous former Brazilian football star Cafu arriving Doha on April 18, 2011. Cafu would be accompanied by Ms. Ana Gonçalves, MD of Footwise and the founder of the Brazilian World Cup Champions Association and other delegates from the Footwise- which is a is a special production company that brings together a production team of the leading experts in sports, political sciences, history, curatorship, marketing, design and education from different cultures united by a desire to create the best and at the forefront, Cafu is its Goodwill Ambassador, the press note stated.

Marcos Evangelista de Moraes better known as Cafu is a former Brazilian footballer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest right-backs ever. He was given this nickname due to his speed up and down the right flank which was reminiscent of Cafuringa, a Brazilian forward from the decade of seventies. Cafu was named by Pelé as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in March 2004. He is best known for his tireless overlapping runs.

The delegation is arriving Doha on April 17 and will stay till 19th and would discuss several possibilities to work for supporting FIFA World Cup-2022 Qatar with cooperation of Qatar based company The Wall, of which Dr. Homoud is the CEO. “We are currently in negotiations with Footwise for finalizing our joint programmes for supporting Qatar FIFA-2022 world cup and in this respect, the visit of Cafu with high level delegation of Footwise is materialized”, said Dr. Naseer Homoud.

During this trip Cafu is expected to meet some high level dignitaries of Qatar including President of Qatar Football Association His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmad Al Thani and others, informed Dr. Homoud. Speaking on the schedule Dr. Homoud mentioned that Cafu would also visit Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence and Al-Sadd Sports Club to get an insight of Qatar’s sports infrastructure. “Cafu has showed interests with working with us jointly for promoting the global legacy of football; he is a great player and champion both on and off the field. His goodwill works are greatly admired and I am of the firm opinion that his visit to Qatar would be a great success”, said Dr. Homoud.

Dr. Homoud also explained about his company’s ongoing negotiations with Footwise for working together on creating several soft infrastructures for FIFA-2022 World Cup-Qatar. “Qatar winning the rights of hosting FIFA-2022 is the greatest moment for all of us living in Qatar and it is my long cherished goal to support Qatar in this endeavor”, said Dr. Homoud.
