Learning the Skill of Minute Taking

Shirley Fine Lee, author of "R.A!R.A! A Meeting Wizard's Approach," leads Providence IAAP discussion of minute taking skills on February 24.

The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) chapter in Providence, Rhode Island will be offering a teleseminar on the Skill of Minute Taking. The teleseminar will be on February 24, 2010 and facilitated by Shirley Fine Lee, author of the book "R.A!R.A! A Meeting Wizard's Approach." This teleseminar will emphasize that historical records, in the form of minutes, are important for better business meetings.

In the teleconference, Shirley Fine Lee will lead a discussion of how to improve the minutes provided for meetings by sharing what to put at the beginning and end of minutes, as well as: methods for recoding meeting discussions, why definitions are important, and why only recording decisions is not enough. Following the discussion of minute taking skills will be a brief brainstorming of ideas and technology to improve the value of the record-keeper role related to overall meeting planning and management.

To register for the teleseminar, contact the chapter secretary, Pat Ervin. For more information on the Providence chapter of IAAP, visit www.iaap-providence.org.
