LeadMaster Australia Makes Major Contribution to Support the Royal Flying Doctor Service

LeadMaster Australia Pty Ltd is pleased to announce its participation in the Outback Air Race 2012 starting on August 27th in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Team Lima Mike.

Sydney (I-Newswire) July 31, 2012 - LeadMaster Australia Pty Ltd (“LeadMaster”) today announced its participation in the Outback Air Race 2012 in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (“RFDS”, www.flyingdoctor.org.au).

RFDS provides emergency aero-medical and primary healthcare across Australia. It operates a fleet of 61 aircraft from 21 bases across Australia and flies the equivalent of 25 round trips to the moon each year. The doctors and flight nurses are responsible for the care of nearly 270,000 patients every year.

RFDS is a not for profit charitable organisation that relies on the support of governments, companies, communities and individuals to continue providing its extensive emergency and primary healthcare services.

Every three years, a group of volunteers from Western Australia organises the Outback Air Race (“OAR”) across outback Australia to raise awareness of and funds for RFDS (http://www.outbackairrace.com.au).

Since 1996, more than $1.2M has been raised for RFDS by the Outback Air Race. 19 teams will participate in this year’s event, which will start on August 27th in Ceduna, SA, on the Great Australian Bight and finish in Darwin, NT, in the Top End on September 8th.

Teams will fly 3,700km (2,300 miles) over 10 days in small single engine aircraft across the vast interior of Australia to various iconic locations such as Innamincka, Charleville, Longreach, Cloncurry and Mataranka (see image).

LeadMaster has entered Team Lima Mike and commenced its fundraising efforts with over $2,000 being donated already from its community (http://www.everydayhero.com.au/oar_lima_mike).

“Whilst the costs of participating are significant (approximately $15,000), we believe that the cause is absolutely vital” said LeadMaster Australia CEO, David Mackey who is also the pilot for the Team.

“Each year we contribute to a range of activities as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility or what some refer to as ‘giving back’. Considering the importance of the work that RFDS does for the community at large and the fact that this event only occurs once every three years, we have decided to make a special effort in helping to raise funds via our participation in Team Lima Mike.”

Team Lima Mike has also received assistance from Aero Refuellers, an Albury based company, who will be assisting with the logistics of supplying the required aviation fuels via their national network of fuelling locations (http://www.aerorefuellers.com.au). “The planning and logistics of this journey are significant, and a reliable supply of fuel is obviously of key importance to aircraft operations! Having the support of an organisation like Aero Refuellers is very comforting and we wish to recognise their contribution” said Mackey.
