Toronto Deputy Chief of Police Peter Sloly, Olympic athlete Alexandra Orlando and former Canadian Idol judge, Farley Flex support local charity's end-of-year celebration.

Toronto, Ontario (I-Newswire) May 16, 2011 - Prominent figures in entertainment, policing and sports will come together on June 1, to celebrate the success of select Grade 7 students attending schools within Toronto's 13 priority areas. Peter Sloly, Deputy Chief of Police; Alexandra Orlando, Olympic athlete; as well as former Canadian Idol judge, Farley Flex, will attend the Kids, Cops & Computers' Inspiration 2011 event, which is held at the Toronto International Celebration Church from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., to recognize the achievements of students on the Program.

The three-hour event is Merry Go Round Children's Foundation's year-end celebration, which brings together Grade 7 students, their police officer eBuddies, educators and corporate supporters. More than 200 students in 24 different schools will be attending.

Merry Go Round Children's Foundation installs brand-new computers and Rogers Internet connections in the homes of financially disadvantaged kids in Toronto. Grade 7 students are paired with a Toronto Police Officer “eBuddy” who acts as a mentor throughout the school year. Although computers are distributed in the fall, ownership is formally transferred at Inspiration 2011.

"This is a great event that brings together everyone who makes the Kids, Cops & Computers program the success it is today," says Executive Director, Clayton Shold. "It is not only to celebrate the ownership of the computers being transferred to the kids, but also to inspire them to reach their fullest potential."

The event will see motivational speeches by Farley Flex, Alexandra Orlando and Kids, Cops & Computers alumna, Ashley Juchawski being made. Scholarships and awards will also be presented. A light lunch will be served.
