Give Cancer Patients Gift Of Hope

Danville, CA Cancer Foundation Connects Patients
To FDA-Approved Clinical Trials

Danville—Lazarex Cancer Foundation of Danville announces that it has been named an official charity of two major endurance events this fall. Registration is open now, and spaces are expected to sell out quickly.

“It is vital that people who believe in our mission sign up for these events and gain sponsorships for their running so that we can continue providing hope to end-stage cancer patients through FDA-approved clinical trials,” said Dana Dornsife, president of Lazarex.

The two events are the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and the U.S. Marine Corps Marathon just outside Washington D.C. Register for both events through Team for Life and reserve your bibs now at http://www.teamforlifelcf.org/endurance-races-events or contact Lazarex Endurance Event coordinator Jenny Walls at jenny@lazarex.org.

Lazarex has raised more than $2 million since its inception in 2007. With that money, it has helped about 90 patients participate in FDA-approved clinical trials. “We step in when conventional medical treatments are no longer effective and patients have been told to get their affairs in order,” Dornsife said. “In many cases we are able to extend the patients’ lives for one more Christmas; a family member’s wedding or even another Little League season. Sometime our patients achieve complete remission and are able to lead normal lives. It is very gratifying work.”

Endurance events are run by the Lazarex Team for Life group. Team for Life is a unique fundraising program that gives those interested the chance to directly support Lazarex Cancer Foundation by participating in events and fundraising. Jenny Walls coordinates about eight races a year which account for roughly 20% of the money Lazarex raises.

Registration is open now for the Tar Heel 10 Miler on April 9 in Chapel Hill, NC, the Seattle Rock ‘n Roll Marathon and Half Marathon on June 25, the Disneyland Half Marathon on September 4 and Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose on October 2. “I would love to hear from anyone who would like to run or sponsor a runner,” Walls said. “There are opportunities for almost everyone.”

For more information regarding how to support Lazarex or how the foundation helps its patients you can visit www.lazarex.org or call toll free at 877-866-9523. “Won’t you join us in building a bridge to hope?” said Dornsife.
