Kingsbrae Garden's National Sculpture Competition Comes To Canada Blooms

(I-Newswire) March 4, 2010 - There's a lot more than flowers along the VIA Rail Garden Route! Gardens and art are perfectly matched at Kingsbrae Garden in St Andrews, New Brunswick, with 2010’s 2nd annual National Sculpture Competition. Take a trip along the VIA Rail Garden Route to see the competition in its full glory and setting of streams, Monet bridges, reflecting pond and fountains, or you can catch a glimpse at Canada Blooms in Toronto. Kingsbrae Garden’s booth will be one of a splendid lineup along the VIA Rail Garden Route at the show; Tobias Luttmer’s “Ancient Mariner”, one of 2009’s finalist sculptures, will be on display. Come see, touch and experience this intriguing work in Texan limestone. It’s a fitting subject for a beautiful slab of sedimented, fossilized sea creatures. If you’re a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, you’ll likely enjoy the sinuous curves of this work of art, the beauty of the natural stone and observe a passing likeness to Davey Jones.

The 2010 National Canadian Sculpture Competition is again fully subscribed, with finalists from coast to coast; Newfoundland & Labrador to British Columbia. The winners from the first competition remain at Kingsbrae Garden, as well as an honourable mention, purchased by Garden benefactors. These are in addition to two dozen sculptures and fountains that are installed around the 27-acre site. The opening ceremony and awarding of 1st & 2nd prizes ($10,000 and $5,000) will be Saturday, June 12th at Kingsbrae Garden.
