Ken Poteet Leads Sterling Bank Event In Raising $10,000 For Kids Rock Cancer

As part of its ongoing philanthropy to worthy community causes, Sterling Bank in Clayton, MO., has presented Kids Rock Cancer with a check for $10,000.

As part of its ongoing philanthropy to worthy community causes, Sterling Bank has presented Kids Rock Cancer with a check for $10,000. The funds represented the proceeds from the auction of two classic cars at the bank's recent black-tie event hosted by Sterling Bank President Ken Poteet.

Guests were invited to bid on a fully restored 1960 Nash Metropolitan convertible, nicknamed "Oreo" for its black and white exterior. The car features a "Flying Lady" hood ornament and wide white tires. Also auctioned was a 1995 SMC Specialty Motor Cars Factory Made Cobra Replica. The red-and-white five-speed V8, which had been purchased directly from the factory, has had only one owner and has less than 6,000 miles.

Kids Rock Cancer is a unique project of the Maryville University Music Therapy Program. Young cancer patients at area hospitals and health facilities visit one-on-one with a music therapist from Maryville. Together, they write a song and then record it, with a completed CD presented to the child.

According to Sterling Bank Chairman and CEO Ken Poteet, "We are proud to support an incredible program like Kids Rock Cancer. For a short period of time, these young cancer patients can forget about hospitalizations and treatments, and instead become a rock star for a day. I can think of no better charitable cause to benefit from our event."
