Author Matthew Damman and illustrator Patty Eisenbraun created The Small Sports in 2011 when they saw a void in what was currently being offered to children. "With everything kids are being exposed to today, I wondered where the sports-themed characters were," said Matthew, a father of two. "We wanted to create a wholesome but entertaining brand that would inspire children to be good sports and to use their imaginations outside."
The adventures unfold in The Small Sports Take the Field, the first storybook in a series by the author/illustrator team. The book resonates with both parents and children through the classically illustrated pages that complement the engaging story line. "Sports have so many life lessons to offer younger children," added Patty. "That's why I feel so strongly about getting the Small Sports' message across."
