iPhone and Mac development company SimpleLeap Software announce a creative scholarship giving students a $500 scholarship for school to destroy paper flashcards creatively on video.

(I-Newswire) March 13, 2010 - SimpleLeap Software, the makers of the popular Mac, iPhone, and iPod flashcard app Cram, announced today their first ever “Flashcard Scholarship” video contest/scholarship. High school and college students from all over will be able to participate and are encouraged to submit video showing them creatively destroying paper flashcards to earn a $500 scholarship for school.

“We had to do something to help the students with today's high tuition costs,” said Ashli Norton, Co-Founder of SimpleLeap Software. “As a company we wish we could pay for every student's education, but since we can't we came up with a scholarship easy enough for anyone with an ounce of creativity to win and fun enough for everyone to enjoy - there's no reason why scholarships can't be fun.”

One Grand Prize winner will receive a $500 scholarship in the form of a check sent directly to the student. Participants will be judged on their video entries based on the creativity of the video, the number of views of the video, and the rating the video receives from their friends, family, and peers on YouTube. “Quite frankly - old-fashioned paper flash cards are useless compared to all of the helpful digital tools like Cram available to students today,” says Patrick Chukwura Co-Founder and Lead Developer of SimpleLeap Software, “So what a way to make a use for those old paper cards than to let the students earn some money for school while destroying them on video.”

All students interested in the Flashcard Scholarship must complete a short application form online and submit their video entries of less than one minute to http://www.flashcardscholarship.com. Entries must be uploaded to the Flashcard Scholarship YouTube page by August 1, 2010, and the winner will be announced on August 5, 2010.
