International Dating Survey Reveals 96% Failure Rate With Online Dating Services

In August 2011, a survey by TheModernMan.com of 54,372 men from 28 countries revealed that 96% who have tried using online dating services have not had any success in getting a first date or finding a girlfriend.

Croydon, VIC, Australia (I-Newswire) August 22, 2011 - Statistics show that the US online dating market is expected to increase to $932 million in 2011 alone. Many men join in the hope of finding the next love of their life, but a majority won’t even find a first date with a woman whether using online dating for free or paying to contact women on the paid online dating sites.

“We asked respondents a number of questions about their experiences with online dating and were quite surprised by the numbers we received back from the survey. Only 4% of guys report having successfully found a girlfriend by using online dating,” explains Mr. Bacon of The Modern Man.

Mr. Bacon further explains, “The main reason why most men fail is that the messages they send are usually left unseen and unread by the women they’ve tried to contact.” He adds, “A woman’s inbox on an online dating site fills up very quickly. If she has an attractive profile photo, she will usually get contacted 100s and up to 1,000s of times per day from men all around the world. A woman simply does not have the time to look through the overwhelming amount of messages, so most guys don’t even get a chance.”

Another reason for the high failure is that most women tend to ignore the “average guy” and instead choose men based on superficial traits such as looks and money. In a real life conversation, an average looking or even below average looking man would have a chance because he would be judged based on his personality, confidence and how he makes the woman feel. However, in the online world a man doesn’t have much of an opportunity to demonstrate his personality or confidence, so women are forced to choose men in a more superficial way.

In another survey with the same database of men, The Modern Man found that 61% of men were unsure how to talk to women in social environments like bars or clubs, so they instead attempted to use online dating services as a way of “talking” to and connecting with women. Unfortunately, most of these men hadn’t realized that millions of other men are applying the exact same strategy. The fact is, no matter how good their message is or how interesting their profile is, most men will not get a reply unless they really stand out from the others in terms of their physical appearance or financial standing.

Mt Bacon adds, “We recommend that men use a more traditional way of talking to women and finding a girlfriend. Simply walk up and start a conversation in real life. Unlike, in the online dating world, when a man talks to a woman in person he doesn’t have to compete with 100s of other guys who are trying to “talk to her” at the same time. In a real life conversation, a woman has the opportunity to like the man for who he is, rather than what he looks like or how much money he claims to have.”
