Inspirational Conference Generates Confidence In An Insecure Climate

The Power of Change Conference took place at the Copthorne Hotel in Cardiff on Wednesday October 20 2010. It was the first of its kind in Wales focusing on three core themes of leadership, diversity and entrepreneurship.

Joy Ogeh-Hutfield, director of Lamajo Training - Connecting and Transforming Leaders, reports that The Power of Change conference staged by her company helped foster a positive and forward-thinking mind-set among delegates.

"The conference helped generate a can-do attitude among delegates, and everyone left feeling inspired and motivated," she says.

"If we are to be competitive in the 21st century, in such difficult economic times, then we have to learn to lead in a different way, to engage the workforce in a positive manner, to encourage productivity and a sense of ownership that will help drive businesses forward - we helped people to step on this path at the event."

Supported by ACCA, the conference featured keynote speaker, Dr. Bramwell Osula, a leading US academic and thinker from the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship at Regent University in Virginia, USA.

"Our growth blueprint needs to focus on intelligent leadership designs, and success in leadership is less a matter of obsessing over the latest immigration statistics or Government funding round than about focusing on how we add value to society. We need leaders with heart and vision, and exploratory creativity and courage who excite and inspire, he says."

Joy Ogeh-Hutfield was a pioneer in terms of addressing the issue of diversity within business. She has worked with many leading organisations including South Wales Police, Her Majesty's Court Service, Barnado's, Parc Prison, Cardiff City Council, The Lord Chancellor's Department and Save The Children.

One of the conference delegates, Mo Green, Chief Executive of the MOre Green Project in Swansea, says.

"Joy is so dynamic and uplifting, she lifts the energy to a higher level when she addresses the audience."

Another delegate, Dr. Paul Greenaway, director of Western Independent (Specialist) Adjusters, adds.

"I found the leadership conference useful and enlightening. The quality and calibre of the speakers and the workshops were all beyond my expectations and I am now seriously thinking about the Lamajo "Masterclass" in the New Year."

Shelley Harstad-Smith from State of Being Coaching, comments,

"I loved the themes of the workshops and gained insights that will make a difference to both myself and those I work and live with."
