Innovative Medical Alert Device Sets a New Standard in PERS Industry

The Public Health Agency of Canada reports that annually, 1 in 3 Canadian seniors will experience a fall, with most of these falls occurring within their own home during daily activities.

(I-Newswire) February 25, 2010 - Studies by the New England Journal of Medicine have shown that a fall victim that has waited for over an hour for help has a mortality rate 3 times that of someone who has received immediate medical assistance. So who will help if they fall? LifeCall will. And elderly Canadians and their families can rest assured that they will continue to receive the best medical alert equipment in the industry as the company introduces the LifeCall 9000 device.

The Research and Development team at LifeCall, a division of Reliance Protectron Security Services, has been diligently working this past year to find the best equipment in the personal emergency response system (PERS) industry to offer LifeCall customers. Now they have found it. The LifeCall 9000 medical alert system was brought into circulation in July 2009 and has been well received by new customers.

Manufactured by Tunstall, this new medical alert device is ULC approved and designed with large coloured buttons on the base unit so the user can easily identify which button they need to press. Customers can choose between the Gem or Amie pendant, which they are able to wear as a necklace, as a belt clip or as a medical alert bracelet. Up to six medication reminders can be recorded into the medical alert device by the consumer and the unit can also act as a speakerphone.

All LifeCall senior monitoring systems are monitored by Reliance Protectron. Reliance Protectron provides comprehensive home and
business security services to protect customers from not only intrusion, but also the danger and damage caused by fire, carbon monoxide, flooding and extreme temperature changes. Clear two-way voice enables users to communicate with a monitoring centre operator at any time. Users and their loved-ones can feel safe knowing that they are protected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
