IMT Ghaziabad believes in strengthening its position through innovative curriculum changes, international linkages and a truly global management education.

Globalisation is the way the world moves forward. The global village of business and industry demands it as boundaries are melting and time differences are hurdles easily crossed. Empowered development is the new order.

Growing in leaps and bounds, catering to the demands of global business and industry, IMT Ghaziabad hosted the Global Business School Network (GBSN) conference in India. Held in Delhi, the conference had an outstanding attendance, with delegates coming in from 37 countries including the UK, USA, France, Switzerland, Denmark, South Africa, Nigeria, Nepal, etc.

"This is an important and unique opportunity on an issue that is relevant to the whole world - how does management education empower development?," Dr. Bibek Banerjee, Director, IMT Ghaziabad, said. "In an effort to keep pace with the changes that are happening in India, IMT has developed and nurtured a number of new and unique partnerships and programmes across the globe."

Recently, IMT Ghaziabad has signed several MoUs, including three in one day: a joint MBA with ISS, Hamburg, Germany; the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) with Grenoble Ecole de Management, France; and a student and faculty exchange programme with Copenhagen Business School.

"We want to take IMT Ghaziabad to a new level," Dr. Jayanthi Ranjan, Chairperson of the International Relations Committee, said. "Our recent tie-ups include one with Sampoorna School of Business, Indonesia. IMT Ghaziabad students will go to Jakarta or Malaysia for six months of rigorous internships, where the Sampoorna students will work as cultural buddies to support them. They will gain a cross-cultural business understanding into micro finance, agri-business and marketing."

In keeping with its promise of innovation, The curriculum at IMT has gone through a paradigm shift. It is designed to make the students global managers and 2012 will see the B-School's new India Depth, Global Breadth curriculum come into force. "A committee comprising 9 faculty members, led by myself, did a comprehensive study and based on the learning, arrived at the changes," Dr. Banerjee said.

IMT faculty members who formulated the cutting edge curriculum are involved in action research within various industry verticals. This enhances the intellectual capital of IMT Ghaziabad and gives it the added advantage of generating exclusive and highly relevant teaching content.

Recently, IMT Ghaziabad announced a Doctor of Business Administration programme in collaboration with Grenoble Ecole de Management, France. "This first-of-its kind degree programme in India will give the executive talent in India an opportunity to leverage their rich and deep experience at work to obtain a globally renowned Doctoral degree without having to leave their jobs in India," said Dr. Bibek Banerjee, Director, IMT Ghaziabad.

One aspect that has been a cornerstone at IMT since its inception in 1980 is the belief the institute drills into its students: YOU CAN DO IT. And when the students step into careers, they turn into the B-School's torch bearers, ready to go out there and make a mark for themselves and IMT.

Many of them head corporate houses or are entrepreneurs. Having seen the business or run it themselves, they are the ideal mentors IMT students turn to in the initial stages of their professional lives. In fact, IMT alumni return to their alma mater and give guest lectures, which give the students a better idea of the realities of the working world.

Alumnus Rajeev Karwal, Founder and CEO of Milagrow said, "IMT grilled me to strive hard to realise my true potential. It prepared me to be the best in my chosen profession, in the industry, also taught me the value of patience, perseverance and hard work." Karwal returns to IMT every once in a while as a guest lecturer. At the recent GBSN conference he participated in the Industry Panel: Sustainable Management and Corporate Social Responsibility.

As part of its effort to give students global exposure, besides student exchanges, IMT Ghaziabad invites several top international faculty. Prof. Jaroslaw Godyn, an HR expert, made students realise that HR is an integral aspect of an industry; that managing people in an organisation needs expertise and is not just a simple matter of hiring and firing people. "There really is no single approach in HR. Nor is there a single formula that you could follow to solve a particular problem. Because, what works for Peter may not work for Paul. HR management in today's time is a multidisciplinary and multifunctional division that needs to be open and ready for changes 24/7," he told them.

International faculty member, Dr. Brigid Milner was also an HR Management expert. She said, "The provision of a common first year which includes the key business subjects coupled with a range of industry-relevant second year specialist HR modules ensures that IMT HR graduates are well-prepared to assume this 'business partner' role."

IMT's faculty pool consists of over 70 faculty members, each of whom are dedicated and world renowned researchers. Their works have been published in several global journals and publications regularly carry evidence of the work put in by IMT Ghaziabad's faculty.

"For a country like India with rural populations of over 800 million, it is inconceivable not to have the focus of knowledge-based development on rural India," said Dr. Surinder Batra, who heads the Centre for Rural Innovation & Capacity Building through Knowledge Management (CRICKET). With this vision of inclusive growth, IMT's CRICKET is an effort to support social entrepreneurship. It is a grass-root level platform in collaboration with research institutions with the added idea of developing case studies and other research outputs.

Rankings and awards validate IMT's position as one of India's top B-Schools. IMT's faculty win many awards in the areas of research and for their dedication to teaching, and these honours reflect in the institute being recognized as one of the top ten in India. A few of the rankings include:

· 3rd among all private B-Schools by Career 360's survey of India's Best B-Schools

· The Economic Times rated IMT Ghaziabad No. 7 among all MBA institutes in the country and No. 5 in Marketing

· Highest AAA rating from CRISIL

· Business India's Best B-School survey ranked IMT Ghaziabad among the top ten

Each award and ranking simply makes IMT Ghaziabad work harder to be the best and give its students an education that is practical, hands-on and very relevant to their careers.
