“IMT-CDL Helped Me To Achieve My Career Goals”, Says Avantika Mittal, Former PGDBM Student

Positivity and the right attitude: these are the two significant qualities which have helped Avantika Mittal, who pursued a PGDBM (IT & Operations) from IMT-CDL to go places in her career.

Cochin (I-Newswire) September 29, 2012 - Positivity and the right attitude: these are the two significant qualities which have helped Avantika Mittal, who pursued a PGDBM (IT & Operations) from IMT-CDL to go places in her career. Avantika chose to study at IMT-CDL because it is well known and she wanted to pursue a part-time management course. “A course in management helps in broadening our outlook and vision. In the technical field, when we have a managerial knowledge as well, our perspective broadens and work is done with a greater zeal,” says Avantika, who currently works as a senior systems administrator with Span Infotech in Mohali (previously known as IONNOR Solutions). “It’s been great working here due to the supportive management and my natural inclination for my job. I have hardly faced any difficulties,” says Avantika, who believes that with the right attitude one can overcome any number of challenges.

At Span Infotech, her day starts with checking emails and taking necessary action. This is followed by daily administration tasks on the servers, creating reports and managing the team. She started out working with HCL, where she has been for 5 years. One of her best achievements at HCL has been working as a track lead at the age of 25 and managing a team of 25 people under her. “My learnings at IMT-CDL were a great help. Every day, I try to add something to this bucket of knowledge,” says Avantika, who feels she works best in an open environment, an encouraging management and where there is oneness of work.

Avantika is gung-ho about the engineering profession and says that with the government’s new thrust on the manufacturing sector, this field should see a boom soon. On the placement scenario for aspiring engineers, she feels that the prospects are bright as the market is open now. Regarding her alma mater, she adds that the “vast infrastructure is the institute’s asset and with more branding, it can garner additional goodwill.” Although she is satisfied in her current job, her goal is to be a manager in the next 5 years. “IMT-CDL has played a major role in helping me achieve my career goals,” she adds.
