IGW Carrier Bangladesh International Gateway Ltd (BIGL) Goes Live with the I-conX Interconnect Billing Solution.

Specialist wholesale billing and settlement solutions vendor i-conX solutions has announced that Bangladesh International Gateway Limited (BIGL) is the latest customer to enter live use with its interconnect billing solution.

Dublin (I-Newswire) January 14, 2014 - The i-conX system was successfully deployed by i-conX engineers, as an onsite licensed installation at the company premises in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

BIGL is a subsidiary of USD $2.2bn Bangladeshi conglomerate Sunman Group, whose portfolio also includes leading WiMAX operator Banglalion. The company was awarded its new IGW license in 2012 by Bangladeshi regulator BTRC, who imposed demanding timescales for commercial launch. BIGL sought to select an internationally recognised interconnect billing solution that could manage the complex Bangladesh telecoms market with speed, efficiency and accuracy.

BIGL are responsible for managing international voice traffic flowing in and out of the country, channelling traffic to and from the ASN carriers via locally based ICX (national transit) carriers as part of a process that is unique to the Bangladesh telecoms market.

As a condition of the license award, BTRC imposed a number of demanding reporting requirements, with which all operators were expected to comply before live launch could take place. These covered a number of critical areas such as accredited audit control and the requirement to supply BTRC with data in order to define tax payments. Such requirements are seamlessly delivered via the i-conX Reporting Services suite, delivered as standard with the main i-conX billing product.
BIGL has set its goal to reform the voice industry in Bangladesh, with the vision of becoming the primary service provider of choice for all international voice communication services in Bangladesh. Their focus for achieving this goal is via exemplary customer service.

On behalf of BIGL, President & CEO Mr Rashed Uddin commented : "We now have a state of the art billing solution that allows BIGL to quickly and efficiently manage traffic within the complex Bangladesh telecoms market. The solution delivers the information and outputs we require, via accurate billing and business intelligence reports which is further supported by the knowledge and expertise of the i-conX team. This has been critical during our start-up and helped to position BIGL as a leading IGW in the Bangladesh market".

Speaking for i-conX, Head of International Sales & Marketing Mr. Gavin Stewart commented, "i-conX is delighted to welcome BIGL to our regional customer base. Following the proliferation of new IGW licenses in Bangladesh, new market entrants need the total revenue assurance of a first-class billing system in order to create a sustainable business. BIGL comes to the market with significant backing and rich telco heritage, and we are excited to work with them as they realise their goal of leading the Bangladeshi IGW market".
