Hydrologix® Gets US Patent for First Successful In-Situ Wastewater Bioremediator

Hydrologix® Systems LLC announces the award of US Patent No. 7,615,156, Device for In-Situ Bioremediation of Liquid Waste. Sold as the Hydrologix® Grease Reduction System, it reduces wastewater at the source to harmless by-products of water and CO2

(I-Newswire) November 10, 2009 - Waikoloa, HI – Hydrologix® Systems LLC announces that it has been awarded US Patent No. 7,615,156, Device for In-Situ Bioremediation of Liquid Waste. “We are the first to achieve commercial success with our Hydrologix® Grease Reduction System’s treatment of kitchen and sewage wastewater, at the source or “in-situ”. This makes the Hydrologix® Grease Reduction System the ‘greenest’ and most cost effective way today to handle disposal of foul industrial, domestic and agricultural wastewater” stated inventors Markus Lenger, Hydrologix®’s Chief Science Officer and Robert Carr, the company’s microbiologist.

In effect the GRS is a computerized-controlled mini wastewater treatment plant that reduces the potentially hazardous wastewater producing lethal hydrogen sulfide gases, to the harmless by-products of water and CO2. Remote monitoring and live camera feeds help ensure a trouble free performance and optimum reliability. The Hydrologix® GRS’s patented technology is a unique system that provides a thriving culture of specially blended microorganisms to instantly digest the liquid waste right in the holding tank, usually a city mandated grease interceptor. The challenge in the past was how to maintain the organisms in such a harsh environment (one that even disintegrates stainless steel) and ensure continuous robust growth, a challenge only Hydrologix® has overcome.

This presents a phenomenal leap forward for the wastewater industry worldwide, which is struggling for more cost effective and sustainable ways to manage the ever growing waste problem and offload aging city wastewater treatment plants. “Both the restaurant owners and city wastewater treatment plant managers see tremendous benefits with the Hydrologix® GRS since pumping and disposal of the raw waste liquids becomes obsolete. In-situ wastewater treatment is not only popular for these reasons, but satisfies the EPA guidelines to treat problems at the source, not move them, whenever it is economically feasible” said Dr. Lenger.

Hydrologix® Systems, LLC, has a proven track record of more than 20 years in the design, engineering and deployment of innovative solutions in soil decontamination, water and wastewater treatment. Their privately owned licensee company Hydrologix® Grease Reduction Systems, Inc., based in Hawaii and California, provides the Hydrologix® GRS service in the USA through regional providers. After eight years of development and with five patents filed, their Hydrologix® GRS is available commercially as a grease trap F.O.G. wastewater treatment solution for the Food Service and Hospitality Industry. International patents pending.
