Houston Based Mixed Martial Arts School - Elite MMA has raised an unbelievable $17,000.00 for the Heart Gift Charity.

Houston (I-Newswire) December 7, 2011 - http://www.elite-mma.com - On Saturday November 12th 2011 the Houston based Mixed Martial Arts School - Elite Mixed Martial Arts held an in house tournament, kick a thon & auction to raise money for the Heart Gift Organization. One of every one hundred children born in the developing world will never see his or her first birthday because of congenital heart disease, according to the International Children's Heart Foundation. Many children in developing nations who have congenital heart disease are never diagnosed, the says Heart Gift, and never undergo life saving surgery.

Elite Mixed Martial Arts decided to help make a difference. The event which ran all day and included more than three hundred of the schools student base getting involved in the fundraising! The Kick A Thon participants even completed over thirty thousand kicks in just fifteen minutes!

Each year, the Heart Gift Foundation brings children from around the world for free surgery to correct life threatening heart defects. They come for surgery because their home countries lack adequate health care. They leave Texas with repaired hearts - and a new sense of hope for the future. Because of the money raised Heart Gift is able to bring a sponsored child here and save his life!

Elite Mixed Martial Arts also has one of it's professional Mixed Martial Arts Fighters who is going to be donating his entire fight purse to Heart Gift as well. The fight will take place the weekend of December 17th. The fighter said he feels it's very important to show that all MMA fighters aren't just neanderthals, that they do have kind hearts and want to give back to charity!
