The Houston Astros and the Texas Music Throwdown have teamed up to help support our wounded military veterans at Heroes on the Water.

Houston (I-Newswire) July 12, 2011 - The Houston Astros and the Texas Music Throwdown have teamed up to help support our wounded military veterans at Heroes on the Water. The Houston Astros fundraising program allows non-profit 501(c)3 organizations the opportunity to sell group tickets to generate funds for their programs. A portion of each Astros ticket purchased through the Texas Music Throwdown website will be donated to Heroes on the Water. HOW can earn $3-$10 for each ticket sold.

Two games have been chosen for this special occasion. The games are scheduled on Friday, August 5 at 7:05pm versus the Milwaukee Brewers and Friday, September 23 at 7:05pm versus the Colorado Rockies. The organizers of the Texas Music Throwdown will be at both games and have a goal of selling a minimum of 400 tickets for each game.

“With major fundraising efforts like the ones offered by the Houston Astros and the Texas Music Throwdown, Heroes on the Water will make major steps towards expanding their therapeutic kayak fishing program to all Warrior transition Battalions and many VA hospitals” says Founder and President, Jim Dolan.

“The injured service members who have given a piece of themselves, mentally and/or physically, for our freedom, deserve everything and anything we can do for them.”

Heroes on the Water helps injured service members with their physical and mental recovery using the therapeutic qualities of fishing from kayaks. HOW serves all military personnel that have been wounded, injured, or disabled. Every HOW event across the country brings together wounded military personnel for guided kayak fishing excursions. Participants are taught kayaking and kayak fishing basics, and sometimes adaptive kayaks and paddling equipment are required.
