Hot New career for 2010? Executive Coaching Survey Has Answers

5th Annual Sherpa Coaching survey underway - your opinion matters

(I-Newswire) November 17, 2009 - After a year of uncertainty, it’s clear: a new generation wants to take the reins, and one elite group is making sure they are ready. Business Week just explored ’encore careers’ and highlighted executive coaching. Coaching has become a second career of choice for senior executives who are not ready to stop working.

To develop rising stars, questions have to be answered. Selecting the right executive coach is important, but they bring divergent training, skill and experience to the job. Choices must be made: Who gets a coach? How much coaching should cost?

There are answers for those questions. One global study helps people make those decisions and measure return on investment. The Sherpa Executive Coaching Survey, in its fifth straight year, is the longest running and most comprehensive research of its kind. The study is sponsored by executive education arms at the University of Georgia, Miami University and Texas Christian, along with Sherpa Coaching of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Executive coaches, their clients and the business public are invited to participate right now, at sherpacoaching.com. Data collection ends December 15, 2009. The survey’s final report will be available at no charge. Last year’s results were downloaded over 20,000 times from sherpacoaching.com, and are still available there.

Those who participate get an exclusive first look at results prior to publication in January 2010. They can also explore Sherpa Coaching’s website, with extensive video, talk radio and photo galleries.

Sherpa Coaching trains and certifies executive coaches at three major universities. Their effort to spread coaching skills to managers and executives is a series of broadcast-quality training sessions on DVD, available at Sherpa’s online store.
