Honda Debuts New Engine at Geneva Motor Show
The 1.6L diesel engine is the lightest in its class, optimized for light weight and precision.
O'Fallon, IL (I-Newswire) March 18, 2013 - With diesel popularity on the rise in the United States, Meyer Honda is proud to stand beside Honda's commitment to offering alternative fuel options, even if the new 1.6L i-DTEC diesel engine is currently for the European market.
Composed of an aluminum cylinder head and an open deck engine block, Honda has developed the lightest engine in its class at 47 kg lighter than the 2.2L i-DTEC engine, allowing for a reduction in friction to put it about on par with an existing gasoline engine.
Built for the CR-V, this new engine is supposed to help European drivers combat increasing fuel prices and is in line with Honda's Earth Dreams engines, putting the CR-V in a position to offer drivers a fuel efficient, versatile, and affordable vehicle.
Although the diesel option is for Europe, Americans have much to love about the 2013 CR-V, with Honda's dedication to new standard features. Not only are amenities such as alloy wheels standard but so is a range of modern technology, including:
• Honda's i-MID interface- This touchscreen infotainment system links all of the new technology in the vehicle with a customizable screen and steering wheel-mounted controls. Drivers can get access to up to date vehicle information, such as fuel economy, too.
• Bluetooth phone and audio streaming- Drivers can make handsfree calls and sync their phone's MP3 library with the i-MID, allowing streaming of audio files as well as Pandora radio.
• SMS text messaging- In addition to handsfree calling, in an effort to reduce behind-the-wheel distractions, drivers can have text messages read to them through the CR-V as well as dictate messages to be sent.
• Rearview camera system- Backing up and parking becomes noticeably easier – and safer – with a rearview camera, which takes over the i-MID display when backing up.
