Home Office Workers Strip the Messes From Their Home Offices on Working Naked Day

Dallas, TX (I-Newswire) February 1, 2012 - In celebration of home office professionals who are Working Naked — working without the support of the corporate workplace — February 1st marks the third annual Working Naked Day. The founder of Working Naked Day and WorkingNaked.com, home office expert Lisa Kanarek, offers tips for home office professionals to help them strip away their anxieties and improve the way they work from home.

• Keep your desk from becoming one big "in" box. Use a stacking bin, basket or other container for reading material; limit your stacking trays to two, labeled "to file" and "to do" for incoming papers; and clearly label files for current and reference papers.

• Don't count on your memory to handle projects, follow up with clients, and plan each day. Instead, rely on a to-do list, whether on your Smartphone, on your computer, or in a paper-based system.

• Forget the saying "handle paper (or incoming information) once." It's outdated and unrealistic. Instead, take action to move each piece of paper forward or each e-mail to the next step. Rather than opening an e-mail and then marking it unread, take action on the e-mail by moving it to an electronic folder or deleting it.

• Toss or store old files that occupy valuable office space. Better yet, use a scanner to store important information you need to keep for tax or legal reasons, but won't refer to frequently.

• Save space when you store supplies by using clear containers and removing supplies from their original packaging. Store similar items together to make it easier to find what you need when you need it.
