Helping Orphans Overseas this Winter

(I-Newswire) December 13, 2006 - When Cares for Kids, Inc. received several hundred new clothing items, the urge to find deserving recipients emerged. What is one to do with hundreds of new Disney Mickey Mouse fleece hooded and footed baby sleepers, or how about brand new Disney fleece Pooh Bear robes?

Erica Wanous, Vice President of Cares for Kids, sought out a local adoption agency, Kids First, who specialize in foreign adoption, particularly in Russia. Inna Pecar, Director of Kids First, informed Wanous that she had a few families traveling this Christmas to Russia and Kazakhstan to pick up their newly adopted children. Knowing that the cost to ship almost anything overseas is out of the budgets for Cares for Kids and Kids First, Pecar suggested that the families would surely be glad to take an extra bag with them filled with these much needed items to distribute to the orphans on behalf of Cares for Kids.

Cares for Kids delivered nearly 100 brand new Disney fleece sleepers and robes this week to Kids First, just in time for the families to pack them for their trips. Cares for Kids plans to provide several more boxes to Kids First for future families traveling to orphanages in colder climates, to distribute to the orphans.

Ms. Wanous knows exactly how disadvantaged these children really are. "I'm the sister to a six year old boy adopted from an Ust-Kamenogorsk orphanage," commented Ms. Wanous. "I know full well the hardships these children face through the winter. I knew that Cares for Kids could make a small difference in their lives."
