Hamlet Country Club Residents Association Announces Adopt A Village Project

The project is a supportive effort to make a difference in the lives of The Village Academy school children in the local community.

Delray Beach, FL (I-Newswire) May 5, 2011 - DELRAY BEACH, Florida—The Hamlet Country Club Residents Association (HRA), led by the Community Relations Committee, has announced its latest volunteer endeavor—the Hamlet Adopts A Village (HAAV) project. The HRA has committed to establish a formal, supportive relationship with The Village Academy, a Delray Beach public school, in a multi faceted program designed to support specific needs of The Village Academy.

The mission of Village Academy is that “all students will learn, given a set of standards, enough time to achieve objectives, quality instruction, and community and parental involvement that supports learning. Curriculum and instructional delivery are aligned with Florida Sunshine State Standards and Palm Beach County School District objectives.” The only goal at Village Academy is to prepare students to attend and graduate from college.

According to Lisa Chiappetta, HRA President, “It is our hope that we will make an impact on the surrounding local community while reinforcing a positive perception of our community outside our walls.”

Several fundraisers are being planned to support this program, with the first to be held on May 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hamlet. The event will be a formal announcement of the program with Guest Speaker Principal Guarn Simms of the Village Academy. The goal of other fundraisers will be to send Village Academy students to the “Florida Fishing Academy” summer camp program, to raise funds to assist with the purchase of school uniforms, and to lend support for the purchase of school supplies and books.
