Cupid’s arrow will take aim at your lover’s heart at the Grand Central Oyster Bar, when executive chef Sandy Ingber presents his Valentine’s Day culinary love-fest for lunch and dinner on Monday, February 14.

New York, NY (I-Newswire) January 21, 2011 - New York—Cupid’s arrow will take aim at your lover’s heart at the Grand Central Oyster Bar, when executive chef Sandy Ingber presents his Valentine’s Day culinary love-fest for lunch and dinner on Monday, February 14.

Ingber’s magical culinary menu, beginning at 11:30 am for an early lunch through 9:30 pm for the final dinner reservation, will include these exotic specials: Bluepoint Oyster Shooter with Proseco and Plum Caviar ($7.95) and Lovers Oyster Platter and Champagne Combination (Market Price) as appetizers, Neptune’s Shellfish Platter featuring oysters, clams, ½ Maine Lobster, mussels and jumbo shrimp (Market Price) and Pan Seared New Zealand farmed Red King Salmon Filet with Chocolate Chili (Mole) Sauce, Jalapeno Caviar and Rice Pilaf ($28.95) as entrées, and Passion Fruit White Chocolate Strawberry Heart ($7.95) and Sweetheart’s Caramel Swan Lake in Love ($7.95) for dessert, all to provide sure-fire romance.

Reservations are recommended by calling 212.490.6650. The Grand Central Oyster Bar is located ‘Below Sea Level’ at Grand Central Terminal.

Widely known as the “Bishop of Bi-valves,” Ingber has long called the oyster “nature’s ultimate aphrodisiac,” and lovingly has developed his Valentine’s Day menu to go along with the 30 varieties of oysters served daily on the bountiful Oyster Bar slate.

The Valentine’s Day appetizer specials also include Lobster Bisque ($7.95), while the entrees include Horse Radish Crusted and Broiled Florida Mahi-Mahi with truffled mashed potatoes and chive beurre blanc ($27.95), Espresso-ancho rubbed & grilled Ecuadorian Bigeye Tuna steak with wild mushroom demi and passion fruit ginger glazed baby carrots ($29.95), and Fried Bluepoint Oysters with Spiced Remoulade Sauce and Sweethearts Baby Fries ($21.95). The romantically decadent dessert menu, all home-made, also includes: Cranberry Apple Rose Tartlett ($7.50), Rhapsody of Chocolate Hearts ($7.95), Mint Chocolate Sorbet ($6.25), and such mainstays as Chocolate Mousse ($6.75), and the Hot Fudge Sundae ($7.50).

Says Ingber: “Legend says no Roman orgy would be worth its salt without thousands of oysters, and that Casanova, arguably the greatest lover in world history, credited the oyster with enhancing his legendary prowess.”

“The oyster has a timeless connection with passion,” he added. “Actually, any food from the sea is thought to have the qualities to enhance love, so we recommend that romantics come to the Grand Central Oyster Bar for our romantic Valentine’s Day the day or night before. I always recall the myth of Aphrodite, the Goddess of love, this time of year. She supposedly rose from the deep with the power of granting beauty and invincible charm to others. As for the scientific evidence of oysters as an aphrodisiac. Phosphorus, iron, copper and iodine (minerals and elements that are plentiful in seafood), are believed to contribute to the efficiency of the sex glands.”
